Day 38: the plan meets the weather

Seven seedlings survived, which is a number I describe as 'selective'. A seedling is a very small plant with very specific needs that it communicates mostly by dying. I am learning to read it.

What I know now

• Watering every day is not the same as watering well.
• A seedling that leans toward the window is not being dramatic; it wants light.
• Plants do not read the instructions on the packet, and neither, it turns out, did I.
• The weather forecast is a hobby of its own.
